This timber-roofed church is the most important landmark of the community, situated a short distance to the northeast of the Proodos Timiou Stavrou church, opposite the Byzantine Museum. The church is included in the Unesco list of World Heritage Monuments.

The wall paintings include depictions from the life cycle of the Madonna and Christ, the Divine Passion, scenes inspired by the Old Testament and portraits of saints. Particularly impressive is the larger-than-life wall painting of Archangel Michael on the northern wall bearing a sword.

The iconostasis of the church is of particular significance, bearing written decoration which dates to the 15th century. Besides the two-headed eagle the coat of arms of the Lusignans Kings of Cyprus is depicted on the screen.

The church celebrates on 8 November (Synaxis ton Asomaton feast) and on 6 September (Archangel Michael’s miracle at Chones).

Opened daily 10.30am - 16.50pm. Entrance is free. Donations however are welcomed.
